Happy Spring!

Spring has finally arrived, and the snow has begun to melt! Swim lessons are finally over, and last week baseball season has begun! Jake is playing on a minor league team, and Emily has started T-ball. Josh is staying busy with 4-H and taking care of his flock of chickens.

4th of July........& projects.

On Thursday Jake had a mommy day and Josh had a daddy day. Jake and Iwent down to concord nh for the day. I found a gate to go around the wood stove on craigslist so we went down there to pick it up, and then spent the day walking around the mall, and going out to lunch together. On our way down we had to stop on the interstate for a moose crossing the road. Pretty exciting! Josh and daddy got some projects done in the basement and at Brian's work.

Then that evening we went with some friends to Montpelier's 4th of July parade and fireworks. The boys loved the parade, especially the fire trucks. The parade was long, but not as good as other years. Until almost the end when almost right in front of us the governor got hit in the face with a pie by a protestor!! Unfortunately we missed the pie incident but we watched 3 guy ( 1 being the mayor of barre) chase and tackle the guy down to the ground. The guy looked pretty nasty- and was dressed in a santa suit- kinda creepy. Never a dull moment around here I guess.

After the parade we walked around a bit to kill some time and then found a quiet spot near charlie's house to watch the fireworks before heading home. Both boys stayed awake this year for all the fireworks- first time for both of them!

Yesterday we started to tackle our huge project list. What we thought was going to be a simple task turned into an all day event. Brian took out our old front storm door and frame, and installed our new storm and screen door with a new frame. The new door makes a huge difference in the house (this one has windows- so it lets in more light- and the screen is great to get more air moving in the living room!).

Then today we rearranged our living room to make room for our wood stove which will be here in two weeks, and then brian worked on making a hearth to go under the stove. He found some tile at a local tile store in their clearance section that is a great match to the stone wall in the living room. It's great that he could build one = that saved us a bunch of money- as they are about $300 in the store.

Here are some pics from the parade and fireworks- I'll try to get some of the hearth and the new doors up soon!

Wow girl sounds like you have been super busy and getting tons of stuff done! Pics are super cute. My two didn't stay awake for the fireworks. Noah was out before 7pm and Anna by 8pm so it was another early night. Miss you!

Doors are never an easy project! They never fit the way they are supposed to...Sounds like you had a great 4th. Maddy slept through ours.
