It feels sooo good to be home, even if we are super tired! We made it to the hotel around 10:30 last night, but didn't sleep much since our bodies we're telling us it was morning time and we were supposed to be up.
Overall it was a really great trip! The flight out and back were both booked- so there was no room for us to sprawl out. It took right around 8hrs to cross the big puddle, by the 4th-5th hour we were ready to be back on the ground.
On Wednesday we slept in for about an hour maybe two and then headed into frankfurt to explore the big city. We did a lot of walking around, and then took the elevator to the top of one of the tallest buildings for a birds eye view of the city.
On Thursday we traveled to a town south of Frankfurt called Heidelburg. That city/ town was pretty cool. We spent most of our morning walking through the old castle, and then the remainder of the day we walked the old town, exploring the shops, and looking at all the really old buildings, and statues.
Friday we were supposed to go explore Bad Homberg, another town not too far from Frankfurt- but Jet Lag hit me hard. I wasn't feeling all that great, and wound up sleeping ALL day on friday- brian made me stay up for about 3hrs that afternoon, and then it was back to bed for me - slept soundly ALL night again.
Saturday was much better. Brian and I explored Bad Homberg in the morning and then it was time for the wedding and reception. The weather was perfect and the wedding was absoultely wonderful! That night during the reception- the baby decided she wanted to try and steal the show- and I started having some pretty rough contractions. Luckily after almost an hour, she got the hint that it wasn't her day to be the center of attention and calmed down- so we could enjoy the rest of the reception, including the parade (there was a festival going on in town).
Then Sunday was our day to come home. :( It was a super fast trip, but we enjoyed every last minute of it! Brian's parents flew home this morning at 6, and we were on the road back home shortly there after, so that we could be home in time to meet hayden and his family to go to the Labor Day parade in Northfield with the boys.
*sigh* never a dull moment. There is no rest in the forecast for us either. Tomorrow both brian and I are back at work ,and its Josh's first day of school. *sniff*
Here are a few pics from our trip. Enjoy!
