Happy Spring!

Spring has finally arrived, and the snow has begun to melt! Swim lessons are finally over, and last week baseball season has begun! Jake is playing on a minor league team, and Emily has started T-ball. Josh is staying busy with 4-H and taking care of his flock of chickens.

Sunday Hike

Its starting to become a regular thing for us to go hiking as a family on Sundays. We went back to Groton this morning, and this time took our bikes along for the fun. We attempted the bike trail (not paved) but it didn't work out too well because the boys training wheels were getting stuck in the mud and ruts. So the boys and daddy turned back after about a good half mile, and Emily and I continued on the trail, for what I thought would be a short ride to the beach road. Well that short ride turned into a 5 mile haul. Emily did great and loved the ride. It was soo quiet and peaceful. I was bummed we didn't come across any wildlife, but we did see quite a few waterfalls, and a ton of spring wildflowers (trilliums and marsh marigolds). Afterwards we headed over to the nature center for lunch, then up to Kettle Pond to look at the gazillions (not over estimating here) of tadpoles. On our way home we stopped on one more park road and found a ton of moose tracks, so we got out the plaster and the boys made a cast of one of the better tracks.
On our way back to the car, we had the boys collect all the beer cans that were on the side of the trail so we could do our part for green up day. They collected well over 3 dozen cans! That equates to $3 in their pocket which they announced would be used to get a candy bar at the store lol.
