Happy Spring!

Spring has finally arrived, and the snow has begun to melt! Swim lessons are finally over, and last week baseball season has begun! Jake is playing on a minor league team, and Emily has started T-ball. Josh is staying busy with 4-H and taking care of his flock of chickens.

Emily's big scare

On Monday we had a big scare with Emily. Jake, Emily were upstairs in their room while I was putting away their laundry. Emily and Jake were playing on the floor next to the crib nicely so I went into our room to put some more laundry away. Not even two minutes later I heard a loud thud and then screaming. I rushed into their room and found Emily laying on the floor crying :( Jake said he was lifting her into her crib so they could play their sleeping game they like to play (they take turns pretending to sleep and te other one tries to wake them up). When Emily fell she landed head first onto the heating grate on the floor. She had a bump but I figured a few cuddles and she would be fine. After about a minute or so she still wasn't really calming down, and then started to gasp for air and passed out in my arms. She was out for almost a minute. Luckily Josh was home so he called Brian to come home right away. When Emily came back too she was still upset and was throwing up. So I immediately called our pediatrician to see if I should bring her to the ER or to their office. They said I could choose, so I chose to drive down to Randolph to see the pediatrician. Their office is in the same building as the hospital so if we needed to go there we would be right there. Plus I figured if we went to the pedi's office hopefully we wouldnt be there long, unlike a trip to the ER. When we got to the pediatrician's office they were waiting for us, so we were able to get right in.
After doing lots of tests, Emily was looking great- she was back to her normal self. Our pediatrician said that she may have a mild concussion so we were to watch her overnight (which meant checking on her every couple of hours) and that she had a possible hairline fracture on her forehead, but there wasn't much they could do for that, it will heal on its own. Luckily when she fell she landed on the thickest part of her skull so that helped to protect her little noggin.
Since then, she has done fine. I think we were more traumatized than she was. She still has a bruise on her forehead but that's about it.
We've escaped another big event! I wonder how long luck will be on our side?
