Happy Spring!

Spring has finally arrived, and the snow has begun to melt! Swim lessons are finally over, and last week baseball season has begun! Jake is playing on a minor league team, and Emily has started T-ball. Josh is staying busy with 4-H and taking care of his flock of chickens.

Josh

Last night we had a little scare with Josh. After being asleep for about an hour he came into our room complaining that his heart was beating too fast and that it woke him up. Both Brian and I listened to his chest and sure enough it was racing. ACK!!!

We were told that this in fact could happen, as around the age of 5-6 kids go through another growth sprut with their bodies and heart and the svt could possibly return even after being dormant for 5 years!

Josh and I went downstairs and we tried a few tricks I had learned from an online group for parents of kids with svt. Luckily the second trick worked almost immediately and his heart rate went back to normal.

We made a phone call to the pediatrician this morning and he recommended Josh get a follow up apt with the cardiologist so he goes in on the 29th for an EKG and then be seen by the cardiologist. We are hoping that this was just an isolated episode and that it won't happen again. I am just super greatful that he is old enough now to realize when something is off and he can tell us!
