Happy Spring!

Spring has finally arrived, and the snow has begun to melt! Swim lessons are finally over, and last week baseball season has begun! Jake is playing on a minor league team, and Emily has started T-ball. Josh is staying busy with 4-H and taking care of his flock of chickens.

Babies, Babies and More Babies!!

So my count was a little off on the number of tadpoles we have. I was guestimating that we had 25, well its more like 50 easily. Oops. ha ha ha. 95% of them have hatched and now they are swimming around happily.

Last night Brian went upstairs to clean out the boys fish tank (not the tank that has the tadpoles- but the one with the fish and crawfish), and to our suprise he discovered that one of Josh's fish had babies! Yup live babies! 16 of them. We knew there was a possiblity of that happening, and it came true. So we had to quickly scoop them out of the tank and put them temporarily in a small fish bowl. If we were to leave them in the big tank the parents, or the crawfish would eat them, or the filter would most definetly suck them up.

We did some reading online last night and learned that this type of fish can have babies every month over a six month period, and can have up to 50 babies at a time. OI yi yi. I guess I shouldn't complain with just 16 then. But i'm sure there will be more in the months to come.

So this morning Josh and I made a quick Wal-Mart run to get some supplies to set up yet another fish tank (yup that makes 3 tanks now). Luckily we had extra tanks in the basment and extra filter and heater, soo, we just had to get some rocks and plants for the babies to hide in.

I attempted to get some pictures of the tadpoles and baby fish this morning. Sorry the quality is pretty cruddy, none the less you can make them out.
