This morning Emily and I went to burlington for her pulmonologist appointment. While we were there they did a sweat test to test for cystic fibrosis. During the sweat test they put electrodes and a chemical on her skin and then wrap her up in saran wrap (seriously) and a ton of blankets to get her to “overheat”. Then they send you on your way for a half hour while she “cooks”. It kind of sucks, in all honesty. She cries because she is too hot and you feel horrible because you want to take off the twenty blankets but you don’t. People walk by and see you with the Nanook of the North baby and she is crying. You think they are wondering what you are doing. At least it doesn’t actually hurt her. Then, after what feels like an eternity roaming the halls at the hospital with a crying baby you go back and they unwrap her. We were relieved to see her soaking wet when we un-wrapped her because we knew we had a good sweat test.
The pulmonologist thinks that she has an underdeveloped trachea. Basically the cartilidge in her throat isn't as strong as it should be (something that will grow stronger in time) and that makes her trachea flap down a lil which is causing the wheezing. So the cat sqeeked by and for now gets to stay. darn lol
I spoke with our pedi nurse this evening and she said that Joe (our pedi) wants to have a follow up apt with her to figure out the next steps to get to the bottom of the cough. So we are making steps in the right direction.
Thanks for the positive thoughts and well wishes!

I am so glad her test went well! I hate having to hold my little one while she cries in discomfort, it is the hardest thing we as mothers have to do. Wanting to help but knowing we can't is the worst feeling in the world. Continued thoughts and prayers for Emily and a big yay for being headed in the right direction.
